Beef and Indian Muslims

RSS, or Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, was founded by an extremist Hindu, Dr. B.L. Hegde, with the goal of establishing an undivided India and a Hindu state. This extremist organization aimed to achieve Hindu dominance through armed struggle and to teach the use of all kinds of firearms for this purpose. The RSS propagated its ideology by printing books and pamphlets distributed across India.

The RSS leaders have been vocally antagonistic towards Indian Muslims. They initiated a campaign to expel Muslims from the subcontinent, claiming that Muslims were outsiders and should be removed from India. The RSS did not limit itself to these tactics but also started the Shuddhi movement, which aimed to convert Muslims to Hinduism.

While this movement failed in cities, some illiterate Muslims in remote rural areas of India did convert. The RSS, with British support, continued its extremist policies as the British imposed no restrictions on their anti-Muslim campaigns, as the British themselves sought to blame Muslims for the 1857 rebellion, despite the involvement of both Hindus and Muslims in the uprising. RSS and other extremist Hindu organizations operated under British directives. The RSS also led a nationwide campaign against beef slaughter.

When the Congress Party began India’s independence movement, these extremist organizations continued to support the British. They played no role in liberating India but have consistently worked to foster Hindu-Muslim animosity as directed by the British.

Initially, many Muslims were allied with Congress and worked together with Hindus to expel the British. However, as extremist Hindu organizations began large-scale massacres of Muslims, particularly in Bihar, Muslims realized that if the British left and India gained independence, they would be at the mercy of Hindus. Consequently, several Muslim political and religious leaders demanded a separate homeland for Muslims. Muslim League leaders and some Congress Muslims began to consider the future of Muslims post-independence. Despite the apparent danger, many Muslim leaders still saw a united India as a better path, but the Muslim League’s movement succeeded, leading to the creation of Pakistan.

Currently, the BJP government, which is an ally of the RSS, is in power in India. It spreads as much hatred against Pakistan as possible and is ruthlessly persecuting Indian Muslims. Beef has become a death sentence for Muslims in India. BJP goons use beef as a pretext to commit atrocities and kill Muslims, as the Modi government ignores these injustices and killings.

Many innocent Muslims have been killed under false accusations of possessing or selling beef. Recently, a new form of oppression has emerged: if a Muslim gets into a dispute with a Hindu or speaks against the BJP, their house is demolished with bulldozers. Many Muslim homes in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan have been razed to the ground. Despite vigorous protests by Muslims, this oppression continues. The BJP government defends these actions, and courts often blame Muslims instead. Recently, in Haryana, a 12th-grade student was beaten to death by BJP “cow protectors” (known as “Gau Rakshaks”), who mistook him for a cattle trader. The student was an innocent Hindu, studying to support his impoverished family. The “cow protectors” brutalized and killed him after wrongly assuming he was Muslim.
