Election Commission rejects all four PTI petitions in intra-party case

Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan has rejected all four miscellaneous petitions filed by PTI in the intra-party case.

The Election Commission has issued a 10-page decision. The ruling, written by Member Sindh Nisar Durrani, rejected PTI’s objections regarding the Commission’s jurisdiction over intra-party elections.

The Commission also dismissed PTI’s request for a delay in the intra-party elections case.

Additionally, the request to postpone the proceedings of the intra-party elections related to reserved seats, pending a decision, was also rejected.

The Election Commission has directed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf to approach the court for the return of documents taken from the party office by the FIA.

The decision states that under Section 208 of the Election Act 2017, it is the Commission’s responsibility to review the legal requirements of intra-party elections.

Section 209(3) requires the Commission to verify the facts related to the issuance of certificates.
