5 Killed in coal mine collapse in Vietnam

In Vietnam, five people were killed when a coal mine collapsed following heavy rains.

The incident occurred on Monday in Ha Long City, leading to a rescue operation that recovered the bodies of the five victims, aged between 23 and 47.

According to the Disaster Management Authority, the collapse happened during severe rainfall in Ha Long City, which also caused landslides.

Vietnam relies heavily on coal-fired plants for its energy needs, and mine collapses have been a recurring issue in the country.

Earlier this year in April, a gas explosion in a coal mine resulted in the deaths of seven people, and last year, ten workers died in various incidents at coal mines in Vietnam.
