Islamabad: This year, 27,542 new companies were registered in Pakistan, with the majority operating in the IT sector.
According to the SECP, during the fiscal year 2023-24, 27,542 new companies were registered, bringing the total number of registered companies to 222,697.
Among the new companies, 58% are private limited companies and 39% are single-member companies, with 99.8% of them registered online.
The highest number of new registrations was in the Information Technology sector, with 4,129 companies. This was followed by trading with 3,666 companies, real estate development and construction with 3,302, services with 2,992, tourism with 1,346, education with 1,177, and food and beverages with 1,103 companies.
Other sectors include e-commerce with 942 companies, corporate farming with 780, marketing with 620, textiles with 589, mining with 574, power generation with 560, engineering with 547, transport with 523, pharmaceuticals with 497, chemicals with 457, healthcare with 434, and energy with 376 companies.
The SECP reported that foreign investors partnered with 68 companies and 31 foreign companies established offices in Pakistan.
Investors from China, Afghanistan, the USA, the UK, Germany, the UAE, Australia, and Turkey were among those who partnered with Pakistani companies.
