Occupied Jerusalem: Israeli antiquities researchers have announced the discovery of a rare seal from the remains of a nearly 2,700-year-old sanctuary.
The Israel Antiquities Authority stated that the seal, which features a name inscribed in Paleo-Hebrew script and depicts a winged figure, was found near the wall of the ancient sanctuary in Jerusalem.
Excavation directors Dr. Yuval Baruch and Novot Rom described the seal, made of black stone, as the most beautiful seal discovered during the excavations in ancient Jerusalem, and noted that it was crafted to the highest artistic standards.
Experts believe the name inscribed on the stone is “Hoshayahu,” who was considered a senior official in the Kingdom of Judah. It is likely that Hoshayahu wore this stone seal as an amulet around his neck.
