14 Pakistanis released from Indian jails return home

Lahore: Fourteen Pakistanis, who had completed their sentences in Indian jails, have been released and have returned to Pakistan.

According to media, Indian authorities handed over the 14 Pakistani citizens to Pakistan Rangers Punjab at the Wagah Border on Friday. Among them were 9 civilians and 5 fishermen.

The names of the released civilians include Mohammad Afaq, Faqir Hussain, Allah Basaya, Akbar Masih, Tariq Mahmood, Waseem, Raju, Allah Bachayo, and Gul Sher. The fishermen are Abdullah, Rajan, Saganjo, Ghulam Mustafa, and Samar.

Security officials stated that after legal formalities, the returning citizens will be sent to their homes, and the fishermen will be sent to Karachi.

A spokesperson for the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi mentioned that efforts are ongoing for the release and return of all Pakistani prisoners from Indian jails.

It is noteworthy that on July 1 of this year, Pakistan and India exchanged lists of prisoners held in each other’s jails.

Pakistan provided India with a list of 38 Pakistani defense personnel and 452 Pakistani civilians and fishermen imprisoned in India.

In return, India provided Pakistan with a list of 452 Indian or alleged Indian citizens and fishermen. Fourteen of these prisoners have now been released and have returned to Pakistan.
