Lahore: 12 suspects involved in the kidnapping of prominent Pakistani dramatist Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar have been arrested.
According to details, DIG of the Organized Crime Unit, Imran Kishore, held a significant press conference in Lahore with DSP Chaudhry Faisal Sharif.
The conference revealed that the Organized Crime Unit, along with DSP Chaudhry Faisal Sharif’s team from Model Town, successfully traced the suspects within hours of the incident.
The Organized Crime Unit Model Town successfully arrested 12 suspects involved in the crime, including Amina Arooj, Mamnoon Haider, Zeeshan Qayyum, Javed Iqbal, Tanveer Ahmed, Falak Sher, Qaiser Abbas, Rashid Ahmed, Mian Khan, Babar Ali, Shumail Bibi, and Maryam Shehzadi.
It was also announced that the woman who executed the honey trap on Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar has been arrested, and investigations are ongoing from various angles.
The press conference highlighted that three vehicles used in the crime, wireless sets, modern rifles, pistols, and dozens of bullets were recovered from the suspects.
The suspects were apprehended in a short time with the aid of advanced technology, IT experts, public relations, and experienced officers.
The press conference further stated that the suspects would be given severe punishment with the help of prosecution partnerships, and operations against criminal elements by the Organized Crime Unit Lahore will continue.
It is noted that a case was registered at Sunder Police Station in Lahore under the charges of kidnapping and robbery on Khalil-ur-Rehman’s complaint.
The suspects had demanded a ransom of 10 million rupees and subjected Khalil-ur-Rehman to violence when the ransom was not paid.
