$100 Million computer developed for accurate weather forecasting

Washington: A $100 million computer has been developed in the United States, which will enhance the accuracy of weather forecasting with the help of AI.

The U.S. government has announced that this new $100 million high-performance computer system will advance the research and development efforts related to science and climate change at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Named Rhea, this high-performance computer will assist NOAA in forecasting weather, climate, oceans, and ecosystems with the support of AI.

Assistant Secretary of Commerce Michael C. Morgan stated in a news release that the Rhea high-performance computer system increases the necessary computing capacity for the agency, thereby enhancing research on the country’s climate.
